but的多种用法

1.做连词，意思是“但是”，连接两个并列句。

She is beautiful,but she is mean.她很漂亮，但她很小气。(mean有多种词性，在这里做形容词，是小气、吝啬的意思)

2.做介词，意思是“除了”，接名词或动名词。

We all accept the advice but Lily.我们都接受了那个建议，除了Lily。(此时but等同于except)

3.做副词，意思是“仅仅”，修饰动词。

I don't know how to do this thing.Still, we can but try.我不知道怎么做这件事，但是我们不妨试试。(此时but等同于just)
